Come out Larry!

Rep. Barney Frank says embattled Idaho Sen. Larry Craig is a hypocrite on gay rights issues, but he doesn’t think the Republican senator should resign.

Frank, one of two openly gay members of Congress and a prominent voice on gay rights, said Craig should serve out the remainder of his term. The third-term senator is up for re-election next year.

“What he did, it’s hypocritical, but it’s not an abuse of his office in the sense that he was taking money for corrupt votes,” said Frank, D-Mass. “I think people should resign when they have clearly done the job in a way that is dishonest.”

Added Frank: “It’s one thing to say that someone can’t be trusted to vote without being corrupt, it’s another to say that he can’t be trusted to go to the bathroom by himself.”

1 gay marriage, then judge stays ruling

By HENRY C. JACKSON, Associated Press Writer 47 minutes ago

DES MOINES, Iowa – Two men sealed the state’s first legal same-sex marriage with a kiss Friday morning, less than 24 hours after a judge threw out Iowa’s ban on gay marriage and about two hours before he put that ruling on hold.

It was a narrow window of opportunity.

Polk County Judge Robert Hanson temporarily cleared the way for same-sex couples across the state to apply for marriage licenses in the county when he ruled Thursday that Iowa’s 1998 Defense of Marriage Act, which allowed marriage only between a man and a woman, violated the constitutional rights of due process and equal protection of six gay couples who had sued.

Oh, here’s a new strategy…

it worked for Bush and Rove anyway, but seems kind of tired now. Two words Mitt: More On.

Romney bashes Iowa judge for striking down ban on gay marriage

Mitt Romney, who inveighed against gay marriage while governor in Massachusetts, wasted no time today excoriating a court decision in the first-caucus state of Iowa that struck down its law banning same-sex marriage.

“The ruling in Iowa today is another example of an activist court and unelected judges trying to redefine marriage and disregard the will of the people as expressed through Iowa’s Defense of Marriage Act,” Romney said in a statement issued by his campaign. “This once again highlights the need for a Federal Marriage Amendment to protect the traditional definition of marriage as between one man and one woman.”

The cost of the closet

Posted by Stevious in General, General, Ge... | 08.29.2007 - 7:02 am

Of course coming out is a personal decision, but for some, like Senator Larry Craig it doesn’t appear to be an option. He held a press conference yesterday where he didn’t take any questions, but stated emphatically “I am not gay. I never have been gay.” And, maybe he’s telling the truth, he might sincerely believe that he’s really just a heterosexual man who has sex with men from time to time. shit

It seems like one of the biggest unkept secrets in Washington, D.C., closeted gay Republicans. Cruising for gay-sex in the shadows of the closet, hating themselves the next day and “proving” they are not gay by casting votes against those of us that choose to live their lives honestly and openly. wtf

So much chatter about which one is better, well, it looks like both are compatible with the BMW 3 Series. So, one of us has a BlackBerry for business, and the other has an iPhone for personal use. mrgreen

Mr. Dale,

The prices on the 2008 BMW 335i convertibles are the same as the 2007 models. All BMW models are priced the same as the 2007 models except the 650′s. Allocation for the 2008 convertibles is for November/December deliveries. Let me know if you are still in the market.

Sincerely,

Officials say Gonzales has resigned

cry boo-hoo.

By JENNIFER LOVEN and LARA JAKES JORDAN, Associated Press Writers 7 minutes ago

CRAWFORD, Texas – Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has resigned, ending a months-long standoff with Republican and Democratic critics who called for his ouster over the Justice Department’s botched handling of FBI terror investigations and the firing of U.S. attorneys, officials said Monday.

IBM Austin Fun Day at Fiesta Texas

Posted by Stevious in General, General, Ge... | 08.21.2007 - 7:36 am

We went to Fiesta Texas on Sunday for the IBM Austin Fun Day. The local IBM Club had discounted tickets available that included park admission, parking and lunch. It’s been a while since our last roller coaster marathon, but Fiesta Texas is kind of small compared to the other Six Flags parks we’ve been to, so we split the day riding rides in the morning, and hanging out in the water park in the afternoon. We were kind of surprised by the size of the IBM crowd in the picnic lunch area, but it seemed like it was pretty well managed by the park staff, there was lots of food and drinks available, and plenty of shaded spots to sit at a table and enjoy lunch.

Mmm, rodents! China feasts on rat infestation
Fine vermin dining; zoo fauna food fiddle; ramen-broth bathing

Tired of fast food? Well, now you can travel to China and try some “pest food.” As the country suffers from a plague of a reported 2 billion rats displaced by a flooded lake, many of the creepy creatures are being trucked from central China to the booming south to end up in fancy restaurant dishes, Chinese media reported.

Rats had been doing a roaring trade thanks to strong supply over the last two weeks, the China News Service quoted vendors as saying.
