We were moving the patio swing chair out to the side yard last night, and the frog from the pond reappeared. the pond frog

I had found, downloaded and installed a special set of animated messenger emoticons for Yahoo messenger last year, and haven’t been able to find them again. So I zipped them up and dropped them on my web server at home. That way I can get to them when I need them. Here are a few samples:

It must be Saturday, laundry, cleaning, and yard work… blah. Anyone want to come by and help? -)

off to the races

Well, we didn’t make the train this morning at Blossom Hill, so we had to race to downtown San Jose to catch it there… blah, waste a half hour driving downtown at 6:00 in the morning.

Well, Nhut paid the bill last night, in fact the owner called within a couple minutes of Nhut sending an email inquiring about the status of the site. And, well, I was able to dump the MySQL database and move the data here. Oh, and special thanks to Nick for helping me with a MySQL installation issue on Fedora Core 1.

OK, so I guess Nhut decided not to pay the bill for the site hosting my blog, and I’m back here again… after losing two years worth of data. Any comments?

So, it looks like I will be spending the summer in Boston again. Current plans are to be in Boston from mid-May through the middle-to-end of August. I’ll be working in IBM’s Extreme Blue lab in Cambridge, same as last year. Just when I was starting to get comfortable here at home. Well, the good news is that Nhut is back and we’ve been working on cleaning up the yard and house. Nhut tore up the pond, and is redoing the side yard, again… hope it takes less than three years to finish this time around.

in case you had any doubt…

A year ago today, the Bush Administration was making its final push
toward war in Iraq. We know now that much of what we were told about the
threat that Iraq posed was untrue. And rather than own up to their
distortion of the facts, Bush administration officials are denying they
ever said such things.

But this Sunday, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld got caught blatantly
contradicting his past statements, and there’s a video clip. You can
check it out at:

browsers and Linux

Posted by Stevious in General, General, Ge... | 03.06.2004 - 8:26 am

I got a note from John Patrick today… John, for those of you who might not know, was vice president of Internet Technology at IBM until he “e-tired” at the end of 2001. See his weblog link below for more info…

Recently I spoke with Munir Kotadia at ZDNet UK in London about the future of browser technology and whether or not Microsoft can dominate the browser market. Having recently joined the board of Opera Software, this is a topic of interest to me. The reporter also asked for my opinion about why Linux is gaining in popularity. My bottom line was that it is not about “free”, it is about “freedom”. If you are interested in seeing the interview, here is the link…

What if it was a gay world?

Posted by Stevious in General, General, Ge... | 03.02.2004 - 9:08 pm

On Wednesday, March 3, our country’s leaders begin discussing the fate of marriage equality at U.S. Senate hearings for the anti-marriage, anti-family constitutional amendment.

Our legislators need to hear from many more voices supporting civil rights for GLBT Americans. I’d like to ask friends and family to join the nearly 350,000 people who’ve signed the marriage equality petition. Help us reach a million signatures! Check out the new HRC commercial — titled “What if it was a gay world?”. It puts viewers in the shoes of a couple left unprotected under the law without the right to marry. Take a look and then forward it to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. Click here.
