Well, the mountains in San Jose are starting to take on that Extreme Green color again. Went roller blading today, and the trail was littered with twigs and fallen branches, you would think it had stormed here this past week or something! -)

I took Joe to the pet store with me, and picked up cat supplies… food and kitty litter. Other than that, it’s been a pretty unproductive day, oh, well, except I guess I did e-file my tax returns. Yay refund! -)

It’s going to happen

I just read this article from the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/29/arts/29RICH.htm (free registration required). And on that note, I better head off to Pet Club to get some cat food and litter, and to the bike shop to get an inner tube for the flat from last week.

I liked this list… any comments?

12 reasons why gays shouldn’t marry (Defend Equality!)

1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.

2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can’t legally get married because the world needs more children.

3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are property, blacks can’t marry whites, and divorce is illegal.

6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven’t adapted to things like cars or longer life spans.

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a “separate but equal” institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.

:-D

Well, looks like the legal battle in San Francisco will be put off for a month, and the weddings continue. Check out Weddings on the Brain.

Off to Austin, Ithaca and Boston starting tomorrow… should have some pics to post this week from those places…

Censure President Bush

Posted by Stevious in General, General, Ge... | 02.18.2004 - 7:12 pm

In an attempt to escape responsibility for the misleading statements that led the nation to war, President Bush has announced plans to form an independent inquiry to look into what went wrong. An inquiry would serve the Bush administration well: it would envelop the issue in a fog of uncertainty, deflect blame onto the intelligence services, and push any political damage into 2005, after the upcoming election.

But the facts need no clarification. Despite repeated warnings from the CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency, President Bush and his administration hyped and distorted the threat that Iraq posed. And now that reality is setting in, the President seeks to pin the blame on someone else. We can’t let him.

Congress has the power to censure the President — to formally reprimand him for his betrayal of the nation’s trust. If ever there was a time to use this function, it is now. Join the call for Congress to censure President Bush now at: http://www.moveon.org/censure/?id=-3902446-rFixwQZm9Grd1Q47iHb.VQ

Thanks.
