I went to Connecticut this past weekend for my nephew’s 5th birthday celebration, and took a bunch of pictures.
Wow. The weather here this morning is awesome… I walked through Harvard and caught the T over to Boston for a class today. Learning java Servlets and jsp using WSAD (Eclipse IDE). Anyway, I stopped in at Dunkin Donuts for coffee and a bagel, and I get a laugh out of this… There’s a line almost out the door at Dunkin Donuts, meanwhile the Starbucks down the street is quiet. So much for sophistication and high priced coffee, I guess.
It is within weekend guidelines to sleep in till 11:00 am. Just thought I should clarify that point. Anyway, I took the camera out yesterday around town a bit and took a few pictures. There was a fire in the Indian restaruant over on Brattle St, but it looks like the damage to the building was minimal.
I did make it out biking this morning, did 20.5 miles in 1.5 hrs. Now what?
I can’t remember why Shari was a dork yesterday, but I think it was because she installed b2 (blog software) on a machine at work for a project she’s supporting in Raleigh. Anyway, speaking of dorks, Nhut tried to convince me that I should be keeping an eye out for a new wireless print server that was supposed to be delivered here. As though I thought he would have ordered a third one when the maximum number of rebates per person was two, c’mon now… Reality check! Anyway, the package arrived yesterday, and it was a Canon Powershot S50 digital camera. So, I took some pictures of the office… I’ll take some more pictures this weekend if the weather cooperates.
Have I mentioned that Shari is a dork?
I had to go clothes shopping yesterday at Old Navy for some new shorts and shirts for work. Weather is getting warmer, and I didn’t bring any shorts with me. The had a sale on painter shorts, so I bought three pair. I got three shirts too, but Sheila wasn’t thrilled with the choice of colors, so we may head back there today at lunchtime.
Well, I figured out why the speedometer on the bike wasn’t working right, the sensor on the front fork had moved a bit, so that it was just slightly too far from the wheel. Anyway, I think I underestimated yesterday’s ride. But I’ll know for sure after next time out. I rode again today, though a little bit shorter ride. Weather was awesome today, I walked through Mayfair 2003 and hung out on the Cambridge side of the Charles river near Harvard and did some people watching.
Well, slept in a litle bit this morning, and once I did get up, I took the T into work to pick up my bicycle. There’s a shop right on the corner here called Darwin’s that makes decent coffee, so I picked up a cup and a bagel on the way to the T. I rode on the Chareles River Reservation bike trail all the way to Watertown, then back around to work again, and back home. the web site says the bike trail is 18 miles, I think. I realized that the whole discussion with David on East Coast vs. West Coast drivers is likely without merit. Drivers in Boston are just as annoyingly nice to pedestrians and bikers as California drivers… which of course is fine since I’m not driving here anyway.
Working on migrating data to this new server, stay tuned…
